Anne Martin, President of MoverOne Group, Retires
Anne Martin retires after a distinguished 35 year career with MoverOne Group. She moves on having served the past 18 years as President of MoverOne Group, United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd., Mayflower Canada, MoverOne International, MoverOne Logistics and Univan Leasing Ltd.
The Martin Reign
The Company has been a large part of Anne's life. Her father Charles (Chuck) Martin was Executive Vice-President of United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd. from 1962 to 1998. Growing up, Anne watched and learned the business in various roles under his guidance. She later contended for the position, but applied twice before being appointed President in 1999. Between Anne and Chuck, the Company was overseen by a Martin for a combined 55 years.
A Distinguished Leader
As the Company celebrates Anne’s next personal milestone, MoverOne Group also reflects on the major accomplishments under her leadership.
Anne led the Company to becoming up to 100% Canadian-owned and operated. She was also the driving force behind the Company’s recognition as one of Canada's Best Managed Companies with a Platinum designation.
Anne strategically grew the corporate group and expanded the Company’s offerings from two companies to six divisions. In the early 2000s, MoverOne International was created to add a global service provider to the Company's list of services. Mayflower was also launch in Canada under her guidance.
Not only has the Company come out on top, Anne dominated the industry as the first female leader of a van line. She was the first supplier to become President and Chairman of the Board for the Canadian Employee Relocation Council. In 2010, she was recognized as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada, leading her to mentor six female professionals in other organizations.
By consistently upgrading the van line’s services, processes and team, she leaves MoverOne Group in a strong position in time to celebrate United Van Lines (Canada) Ltd.’s 65th anniversary in 2018. Anne hands over the reins to Dan Lawrence who succeeds her. To ensure a smooth transition, she will remain with the company until the end of the year.
"Our Members and staff are the heart of our organization,” said Anne. “I will greatly miss the culture of our network and I am confident the Company will continue in a positive direction.”
Our Best Wishes
Thank you Anne for all your leadership, commitment and forward-thinking that went into making the van line number one in Canada. The passion you bring to the organization daily will be missed.
